nabim is active in many policy areas, including trade, technical and regulatory affairs, food safety, environment, health and safety, employment affairs and training. Fundamentally, nabim's role is to advise and represent its members on these issues, promoting a competitive, efficient and socially responsible sector of the food industry. As part of this process, nabim engages in regular dialogue with the whole supply chain, from plant breeders to farmers through to customer organisations, as well as with other trade bodies, government and its agencies and other influential actors in the agri-food sector.

nabim is also engaged in research into new technologies, working with members and government departments to find the most effective way of implementing new legislation and identifying ways to support members in complying with legislation.
