Wheat Varieties

There are many wheat varieties that farmers can choose to plant.

nabim publishes a wheat guide annually which aims to inform farmers about those wheat varieties suitable for the flour milling industry. The guide is designed to give an outline of the milling industry's commentary on individual varieties and guidance on their likely relative values. It does not provide agronomic advice. The nabim guide is, however, complementary to other information published by the HGCA, Crop Evaluation Limited and NIAB, which assess the performance of different varieties on farm.

The nabim wheat guide, produced annually, can be downloaded here. Alternatively, hard copies can be requested by contacting nabim at info@nabim.org.uk.

Information on the agronomic values for varieties and their disease resistance can be obtained from the Home Grown Cereals Authority (www.hgca.com) or the National Institute of Agriculture and Botany (www.niab.com).
