Biosolids

Biosolids resulting from the processing and treatment of waste water are often used on agricultural land, as they can be an excellent fertiliser.  However their use is very carefully controlled.  Spreading is limited to one year in five and they are not applied to growing crops, only to the soil before planting.  Use of biosolids for agricultural purposes is a much more sensible use of resources and more environmentally responsible than old practices such as dumping waste at sea.
